Well we’re nearly halfway through January, which means the New Year has passed. But that doesn’t mean that it’s too late to make a few belated resolutions. Surely you’ve already tackled the standards. You’ve got your new gym membership, are eating less red meat and have quit smoking. Kudos for that! But what about those less conventional resolutions though? Like taking better care of your garage, and more importantly, your Hudson garage doors? If there’s ever a time to perform some maintenance and start anew, it’s now. Here a few ideas for you to toss around.
Get Organized
We’re not referring to your life as a whole. We know that getting your life in order takes a bit more than a New Year’s resolution. We’re talking specifically about your garage. For the longest time, this space has been the section of the house that receives the absolute least tender loving care. Why not take a Sunday to put all that junk in order? Those bikes need a home and so do the basketballs. When it’s all done, you can take a breath of fresh air. Maybe finally you’ll be able to actually fit your car in there for a change!
Basic Routine Maintenance
You’re not the only procrastinator in the world, but that doesn’t make it any less okay that you’ve put this off for so long. Your garage door and your garage door operator need maintenance. On a regular basis. And we’re not just talking about the risk of it not working. If you ignore basic maintenance to your garage door for long enough, you could be working toward the door coming off the hinges entirely and falling to the floor. That’s a hazard for members of your household, a pain in the neck to clean up, and a whole lot money on spent on repairs. Best to bite the bullet and just make sure it doesn’t get to that point.
Better Security Precautions
No one likes to think about the possibility of being burglarized. But this something everyone has to hear. Burglars exist. And it’s their job to outsmart you, which means they are very clever. But more importantly, most burglars take advantage of the lazy folks who don’t take the standard precautions. You should never leave your garage door remote control in plain sight in your car. If you wish to leave it in the car, put in the glove compartment. Also, lock you car! All too many people park on the street and leave their car unlocked with the remote control inside. It doesn’t matter how many deadbolts you put in your front door if you let them in through the garage.
