3 Safety Tests That Every Door Needs

When we purchase garage doors, we do so in hopes that they last for years and years.  The reason being is that purchasing a good-quality garage door is not cheap.  Aside from wanting it to be aesthetically pleasing, we also want it to keep the members of our house safe.  Since it’s such a powerful and heavy item, damage can easily occur if it’s not well-maintained.  For that reason, we’re identifying 3 tests that experts will do at your next inspection in order to keep your door safe and in great condition.

Reverse Mechanism Test

The automatic reverse mechanism is a very important feature.  The reason being is that when you close your Clermont garage door, the door will automatically reverse if it senses any object there, whether it be a person, your pet, or an important object.  During this test, the experts will put a piece of wood or something similar on the ground to make sure that the door detects it.

Force Settings Test

Modern automatic garage doors are designed to use very little force when closing in order to improve the safety of the people in the home.  Experts check this by standing outside of the garage and extending their hands and holding the door up with their hands.  When this happens, the door should reverse.  If it doesn’t, it could be because the door is exerting too much power.

Balance Test

A well-balanced door is also super important.  For this test, experts will close the door and turn off the automatic opener mechanism.  They will then stand outside the door and try to open it – it should open easily and stay in place when it’s fully open.  If it doesn’t, then the door may need some adjustments in order to be balanced.
