Lubricating Your Garage Door Parts

Maintaining your house takes a lot of work.  You have to keep your front yard in order, make sure all the lights in the house are working properly, keep everything clean, and even maintain your garage door.  Although Clermont garage doors don’t require a lot of work, they do need to be inspected regularly to guarantee that everything’s going well.  When we inspect LaGrange garage doors, many times the garage door parts are working well, but they need one thing: lubrication.

So, why is lubrication so important?  Lubrication helps your Clermont garage door to work without friction, therefore extending the lifespan of your door.  All things considered, lubrication is a small fee to pay when you consider that it delays the purchase of a new garage door.  It also helps keep your door quiet.  In fact, if your garage door is making a lot of noise, it’s a sign that it’s time to lubricate the parts.

Now that we know that it’s important, we should identify which parts should be lubricated.  The answer to this is simple; every moving part should be lubricated.  For instance, the hinges are a very important part of the LaGrange garage door.  It’s critical that the hinge is lubricated where it opens and closes.  In addition, don’t forget the rollers, springs, tracks, and even the locks.

We recommend that you get this down every 6 months, or sooner if your Clermont garage door is having problems or making noises.  At Hudson Valley Overhead Doors & Operators, we can help you with this process.  When we’re there, we’ll do a routine check-up to make sure the rest of the parts are functioning.  For more information about our services, give us a call.
